3 Smoothie Recipes Using Acai, the Ultimate Beauty-Fruit

Acai is one of my favorite Amazon super-fruits.  Look for acai at your local health food store in the freezer section next to other frozen fruits.  Sambazon is one of the leading brands to look for.  You can also find acai in dehydrated form.  Dried acai can usually be located with other packaged super-foods, or with dried bulk items.  Brands like Sambazon and Navitas Naturals have been finding their way to smaller health food stores, making this antioxidant-rich berry more accessible than ever.

 A great post workout smoothie

1 packet of frozen acai puree or 2 tablespoons of dehydrated acai

1 scoop of grass fed whey protein powder

1-2 tablespoons xylitol or raw honey to taste

2 tablespoons organic, plain, whole milk yogurt

1 tablespoon of chia seed

3/4 cup unsweetened organic almond milk

Add almond milk to the bottom of your blender first, and pour chia on top. Chia seeds are full of fiber that absorb lots of moisture and expand, thickening your smoothie over time. Adding chia first gives it a head start. Break up your packet of frozen acia puree next. I like to bang it against the edge of the counter while it’s still in the packet to keep things clean. Breaking it up first will make things easier on your blender. Add in frozen acai chunks and remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Full of skin beautifying ingredients

1 ounce of no sugar added coconut water, like Harvest Bay

2 large mangos, peeled and pitted

1 package of frozen acai puree, or 2 tablespoons of dehydrated acai

1/4-1/2 teaspoon of yellow curry powder

1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice

Break up your packet of frozen acia puree and add to a blender. Pour liquids over acai and then add mango and a handful of ice. Turn blender on and add in curry. Blend until smooth. Drink immediately.

Another great post workout smoothie

1 packet of frozen acai puree, or 2 tablespoons of dehydrated acai

2 tablespoons of raw cacao powder

1 packet or half a scoop of Vega Energy Protein Powder, Vanilla Almondilla

1 tablespoon extra virgin coconut oil

1 cup coconut water

1 cup ice

Break up your packet of frozen acia puree and add to a blender. Pour coconut water over acai and add remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth. Drink immediately or freeze to make ice cream.

Tip: Add a capsule or 2 of your probiotic supplement into any smoothie to give it an extra boost.
